Award Winning Chatham Marconi Film Premieres to Full House

Over 250 residents of Chatham and nearby towns were treated to a delightful Saturday afternoon in the High School auditorium at the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center’s world premier of it’s “Award Winning” Documentary film “Chatham Radio: WCC The Untold Story”, narrated by Walter Cronkite.

The audience enjoyed exhibits, discussions and films about the life and history of Marconi, his ground breaking discoveries, the impact of Marconi/RCA Marine Radio station in North Chatham had on world events and maritime communications in the 20th century.

Mr. Daniel Kertzner, a Program Manager for the Massachusetts Cultural Council, which is an agency of the Commonwealth, spoke to the “Gold Star” award the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center received “for it’s merit in bringing to light, for the first time in documentary form, the historical significance of the local, state and national site”.

The Documentary film,“Chatham Radio: WCC The Untold Story”and it’s Producer, Chris Seufert, of “Mooncusser Films” of Chatham, has recently won an “Award of Excellence” at the 2005 Videographer Awards for the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center’s film.

The Videographer Awards is an international awards program directed by communications professionals to honor talented individuals and companies in the video production field. Past winners have come from all 50 states and numerous countries.

The goals of the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center are to preserve and maintain the historic character of the Marconi buildings and grounds in North Chatham and for reuse of the “Operations” building for Communications and Maritime programs which will enhance community education opportunities and enjoyment, while recalling the ground breaking work that Marconi and RCA did here; especially Chatham's maritime history and its relationship to the 21st Century.
